Our average hardscaping construction and installation projects run about four days. Larger installations involving multiple elements across a property can span several weeks. Subgrade elevations and grades need to be excavated with precision. The aggregate bases need to be set and compacted correctly, surfaces need to be leveled and locked in, and a hardscape done right takes the time it takes. That’s what makes it last.
What’s the difference between a dry-laid patio and a poured concrete patio?
A dry-laid patio sits on a compacted aggregate base with a bedding course underneath the finished surface. Pavers or flagstone lock in place with edging rather than bonding to concrete. Dry-laid installations drain naturally and handle ground movement over time in a way that poured slabs often don’t. M&P’s hardscape installation services are exclusively dry-laid.
Do I need my own design plans for a hardscape project?
No. We work from existing plans if you have them, but most residential hardscape projects start with a property walkthrough where we establish the footprint and scope. From there the design evolves in the field as the installation progresses. If the project is large enough to warrant formal drawings, our team includes a licensed landscape architect who can produce them.
Will my landscape beds need work after a hardscape project?
A new patio, walkway, or wall typically disturbs the beds and plantings around it, and getting the landscape back in shape after installation is part of finishing the project properly. Our landscape maintenance crews handle that work so you’re not left coordinating a second company after the hardscape is done.
